December 20, 2007: In its regular meeting Thursday, December 20, 2007, the Owensboro Utility Commission appointed Stan Conn as General Manager for Owensboro Municipal Utilities. Mr. Conn had been serving as acting general manager since September of this year.
Conn has worked at OMU for the past 21 years. He began his career at OMU in 1986 as a plant engineer. In 1993, he was named assistant director of power production and became director the following year leading OMU through the $175 million in Clean Air Projects from concept to operation. Conn is a graduate of the University of Evansville with a degree in mechanical engineering. He has completed several masters level courses as well.
Of his acceptance of the position, Conn said, “I look forward to continuing to lead OMU and am proud to be part of a company that is dedicated to its employees and its community.”
Louis Johnson, chair for the Utility Commission, said of the commission’s decision to appoint Conn, “We are certain Stan will provide leadership based on integrity, transparency and honesty. We are confident in his abilities, his outlook and his expertise.”
Conn and his wife, DeeAnn, have two children, Alex and Melanie. He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
